Acne Causes - Is Acne Hereditary?
It is more likely that you will develop acne if both your mother or father had acne. The
exact acne causes are still somewhat unclear, but what is known is that acne tends to be hereditary and passed
down. Your chances of developing acne are higher the more members of the family had it, or have it
now. Also, if you have a strong family history of acne, your own acne blemish treatment
may be more difficult. Of course, you can still find effective treatments or achieve good results, but it is
something to be aware of.
Acne causes also come more from your mother's side of the family than from your father's
side. There are studies to support the fact that because of acne causes deriving from the mother, that acne may may
be passed down through the X chromosome. However, just because your mother had acne does not mean you will get it
too.
On the opposite side of the issue, there are plenty of people who have developed acne that came from acne free
parents. So, it seems likely that there are many other acne causes that contribute to the development of acne
besides just your family history.
So the top 4 acne causes seem to be heredity, hormones, lifestyle, and diet. Heredity is probably at the top of
the list. The other acne causes are up for discussion. Either way, a lot can be said for getting lots of rest and
eating right.
If acne runs in your family, all is not lost. You may not have to suffer the effects of acne and blemishes. Just
remember, you do have plenty of acne blemish treatment options, many of which were not available during your
parent’s acne-filled adolescence. So, family history or not, there are treatments that will be effective for you.
